Echinacea angustifolia and purpurea are two varieties of echinacea known for their immunostimulant properties. Its power is derived from polysaccharides, flavonoids, caffeic acid derivatives andessential oils.
Echinacea is therefore an antiviral plant. It is also antibiotic and bacteriostatic. It prevents bacteria from proliferating.

En usage interne
Echinacea mother tincture protects against winter illnesses, when the body is under stress from cold, rain, temperature changes and epidemics. Taken internally as a preventive measure, this plant facilitates the natural immune response. In curative, it helps to relieve :
- cooling conditions

- symptoms due to infection:
- of the respiratory tree: dry and fatty cough, bronchitis, pneumopathy

La teinture-mère d'échinacée peut également être utilisée en usage externe. Pour cela, elle sera introduite dans des préparations du genre pommade, onguent, crème...

Both echinaceas are herbaceous perennial plants 8 to 10 cm high with a cylinder-shaped rhizome. The mother tincture ofechinacea angustifolia is prepared from the rhizome and that of echinacea purpurea from the aerial part.
Once harvested, it is macerated in a mixture of solvent and alcohol.
Side effects of Echinacea mother tincture
In general, mother tinctures only have the contraindications of the plant from which they are prepared. The alcohol does not present any disadvantage because the dilution in water removes any harmful power.
The Echinacea mother tincture should be taken in 21-day cycles with one-week intervals to allow the body to self-regulate.
How to take Echinacea mother tincture
For internal use:
- in prevention: 30 to 40 drops in a little water once a day between meals.
- In curative : 30 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times a day between meals. To be adjusted according to your weight and your vital state.
- Children
: 2-6 years: 3 x 5 to 10 drops per day6-12
years: 3 x 10 to 15 drops per day
For external use:
- The proportion of Echinacea mother tincture in an ointment is about 10%.
- as a gargle: about ten drops in a glass of water.
