A few words on Basil essential
oil Theessential oil of Basil, also known as Exotic Basil, has powerful antiviral and antispasmodic properties. It soothes digestive and gastrointestinal spasms and, as a tonic for the liver, gall bladder and digestive system, promotes light, trouble-free digestion.
Analgesic and anti-inflammatory, it is also useful for countering tendonitis, joint discomfort and rheumatism, and, alone or in synergy, soothes muscle cramps. It is also useful before exercise, softening muscles.
On the mental level, it combats lethargy and nausea, promotes concentration and helps to regain a sense of proportion. Recommended for people stressed by work.
There are many varieties of basil, but exotic basil is the most widely used in aromatherapy. It comes from India, Vietnam and Madagascar. It's worth noting that a study has been carried out cancelling out suspicions that methyl-chavicol is carcinogenic when found in the form of basil extract and not in its pure state (http://edepot.wur.nl/121896).

- Food: mix 8 drops of basil essential oil and 2 drops of lemon essence with 50 ml of virgin olive oil and you'll get a deliciously fragrant oil to accompany a variety of dishes.
Precautions for use of Basil essential oil
- not recommended in the first 3 months of pregnancy
- skin irritation (dermocaustic) possible in its pure state
- when using an essential oil for the first time, always perform an elbow test to ensure that it does not cause an allergic reaction
- as essential oils are volatile, sensitive to UV radiation and flammable at high temperatures, it is essential to store them in a well-sealed, colored glass bottle at a temperature between 5°C and 40°C.
